The labor cost for changing break pads and rotors?

I came back feeling robbed and cheated. Come it for 42.000 kms service that cost almost $400 and ended up paying $1,784.61 for changing all the breaks and rotors at Attrell Hyundai in Brampton, Ontario.

What gets me is that the labor cost $787 and parts cost $791.35 the rest is taxes $205.31

I was wondering how long does it takes to change all that, is it really gonna take all day? Because the service consultant from the dealership told me it would take me all day if he had not sent 3 mechanics to do the jobs (5 of them) and he charged me 1 and half to 2 hours on EACH JOB.

Is this normal? I feel so bad and did write email to service manager and the owner of the dealership.

What can I do more to get some of the labor cost back? The labor cost for changing break pads and rotors?
I think the price you paid was excessive, because that would be approx. $1,550 US, but remember that you also received genuine Hundai parts which are probably more expensive than most quality aftermarket parts. I also believe that the service adviser offered a horrible explanation for why your bill was what it was and should be doing something else for a career.

As far as suggesting that you do it yourself, I would never recommend that to someone that has probably never performed work on a car before( I am assuming you haven't). That is my family and the families of all of us on the road and I would not want to share the road with a bunch of first timers removing calipers and caliper brackets to install rotors and pads. That is just my opinion.

Writing a letter to the owner is a good move and you might want to write one to the Corporate head quarters referencing the dealership in question. Good luck! The labor cost for changing break pads and rotors?
Too late. In the future, why don't you just buy the parts yourself. Use the internet to price shop. Many Hyundai dealerships sell discount parts on-line. DO THE WORK YOURSELF!!! It's easy, and obvious. Buy a Haynes manual if you are unsure. Or use ALLDATA, a data base on auto repairs that show EVERYTHING, and recalls, etc. It is in many libraries as a free service. The whole job should cost about $250, tops! The labor cost for changing break pads and rotors?
im no hyundai tech but sounds like you got took,i figure no more than 5 flat rate hrs, topThe labor cost for changing break pads and rotors?
im sorry but you got ripped off. 1700 for a complete brake job is ridiculous paying 787 for amost 2 hrs for labor is 393.50 an hour for labor thats a rip off right there. most labor out here anyway is at most 80 dollars an hour

and depending on the car most brake rotors usaully cost between 50-100 each and a pair of pads is like 20-40 there is no way that all that came to 1784. i would ask them to go over all the charges with you and ask how much is their labor rate an hour. and ask how did it get to 1700. from now on buy the rotors and pads and do it yourself its not hard its super easy just buy a repair manual from the auto parts store so you know what your doing you'll spend at most 400 to do a complete job yourself but your rotors will be fine for a long time unless you have uneven wear, caliper drag or hit the brake to hard. good luck and please dont let yourself become a victim

and why the **** yall keep giving me a thumbs down i give good adviceThe labor cost for changing break pads and rotors?
dealerships overcharge... that part at least is normal....

generally if the pads have even 1mm left, you would be perfectly fine driving to another garage... the are what 3cm thick when new...The labor cost for changing break pads and rotors?
I feel bad when I hear something like this happens to people who know very little or nothing about car's maintenance and services. It doesn't matter how many mechanics needed to work on your car, the labor cost should stay at a flat rate. You've been robbed and cheated. $787 for labor? that's 8 hours of labor, $99 an hour. as for the parts, overpriced by about $200 more or less. This is what the dealers at Brampton Auto mall charge. With all the right tools and parts which the dealer has, 4 hours of labor should get the job done. I can get this job done under 4 hours and I'm just a backyard mechanic with basic tools.

Complain to the manager first, if nothing happens then call the Hyundai Headquarter. if nothing settles, take your issue to the mechanic governing body/board of Ontario. Believe me this people doesn't want the board to get involved. Hope you get some of your money back. good luck.

had a similar experience with a local mechnic, he changed the total cost of repair(overcharged)without telling my brother first. We were going to take the issue to the Mechanic Board but the problem was solved first, he gave us some of money back.
